When I upgraded to v1.17 on both an xp machine and a vista machine i was asked to upgrade to Directx10 june 2007. So i downloaded Directx SDK June 2007 and im now able to use the v1.17 upgrade on my vista machine (not xp machine). My main issue is not really doing whats needed to make fpsc to work... but what about those we may be distributing our games to... do we include a directx installer with our games? I also found it weird that it was asking for directx10 on my vista machine... surely this is a typo?

there is no such thing as DirectX10 for XP, but you should definitely install DirectX10 for Vista. I'm pretty sure DirectX10 is the default version of DirectX on Vista, just like DirectX11 is the default version of DirectX on Windows 7

you will have to include a direct x installation within ur game to make it easy for the user

i use a great installer software that is custom used

@gamerkid, I'm assuming it was a typo within FPSCreator. It was asking me to install directx 10 when i was on my vista machine, im assuming it wants directx 9, since when i installed 9 it started to work and 10 is already on the machine.

@bironeo, the software is called "inno setup"?
