Hi,
Every time i try to use bump mapping with my card i get an error in this king "Memory can only be read" and my Darkbasic program crach. I ve go a GeForce 4 MX 440 and direct X9B. Anybody knows where this problem comes from and how to make bump mapping works ?

Use the 3D check commands to see if your card supports the features.

My computer correctly works with bump while using other 3D engine ...

Rather than using bumpmapping in a feature have you tried just applying it to the object textures?
In modding other games that don't support bumpmapping I've found it as a work around. Such as IL2 Sturmovik where I've apllied a bumpmap to several aircraft skin to make rivets stands out on the aircraft, etc.

I'm getting the same problem! Only it's not for bumpmapping, lol. It's under the post "Looking for Sonic" near the bottom. Here's a pic of what the error looks like:

I think DBP does bump-mapping via shaders so unless you have pixel and vertex shader support it won't work. Ge-force 4 MXs dont support pixel and vertex shaders.

set blend mapping on with type 24 does the same as dot3bumpmapping
at least if it wouldn't throw away the base texturing
