Is there anyway to run an external program or start a process from a FPS Creator Script or some way inside an FPS Creator game?

I don't think the official FPSC versions will allow you to do this, but there may be a Mod out there that can.

I know at least one of them can write to files, but not sure if it executes other programs or not.

In any case, your best bet would be to look for a Mod that can do this, since stock FPSC cannot (To start you off, I know PB does not offer a command to do this (Holy cow! I know, amazing that PB couldn't do something! I'll have to see that fixed sometime ))

RPG Mod doesn't either. It is possible to do but I'm not sure what the reason to do it would be.

I reject your reality and substitute my own!

@Plystire
Does PB write to files?

@Flatlander
I wanted to mix FPS Creator with some software that will update a player's stats on a website. A program that will run silently in the background of the game (at a certain point) and update the site to say like: Player at Level 4 (50% done) or something like that.

Yes DB pro writes and reads files

If it's possible to write files with a mod, it would be possible to make a program usable if fpsc has written the file. That way the program would only be able to launch if the file exist or if something is written in the file.

@ flatlander One reason to do this could be if you want to make a misson like the AC130 mission in cod4 in the game

Pb does not offer commands to write to/read from files.

I remember Arenas doing something on it, i think he got file commands working. What he did with them, I don't know.

I'd change the world, but I don't have the source code

it would be good if at least one of the mods for FPSC had this functionality included - hint, hint, hint...

Wouldn't be terribly hard to do, however there are some things to account for. "Idiot proofing" would be one of them. As we all know, FPSC already has a problem with focusing itself during a testgame, and something similar can easily happen when it's forced to minimize for another executable being called from a script. There are a few other problmes, but that's the one that pops out the most for me right now.
