G'day,
Could anyone please help me figure out how to make a convincing reflection effect on the ground of an office reception area? I've tried reflection shading and cube mapping but the effect is not very decent. ANy help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Damian, Here is a quick demo I made for you which uses a second camera and a shader (much like a water shader) to create a reflective floor. This could be improved upon, but it should get you started.

I had been meaning to do this for awhile, but your post was the kick in the pants that I needed to actually work on it.

Does that mean you cant see the walls and ceiling?

The shader requires VS2.0/PS2.0 (though the vertex shader can be changed to 1.0), which I am guessing your video card doesn't support.

If you want to do the effect without shaders, you can mirror what's above and flip it vertically, this will be the reflection. Then you ghost the floor.

Gives a pretty good effect but much, much slower than using shaders.

Or he moved below the floor before noticing anything?

Yeah I can't see a thing is all blue. And I think you're right about my vid card not supporting those shaders but thanks all the same.

And that's exactly what I was thinking of doing actually, thanks Jerico.

I love pizza
