Hi everyone,

I am looking for some advice on whether or not I should use CS4 or FPS Creator in level creations. Is one vastly better than the other in speed and reliability?

It's a tricky question, they are both very different.

I guess it depends on what sort of game your making. FPSC is quite straightforward, but the levels are grid based - so if you want to avoid the grid, maybe make something more half-lifey, then CS4 is probably a safer option. There are other options though - Evolved is working on a level modeller which he's used to recreate the opening level from Quake, and it does look superb!

I have been working with CS4 a little bit, I do enjoy it. I think for getting test levels up quicker FPSC would work a lot quicker for character tweaks. Thanks Van!

His level does look very well done.

Evolved also has his own free level editor called 'Mapscape' which you can download here: http://www.evolved-software.com/mapscape/mapscape

It will produced lightmapped levels of excellent quality. Once you get the hang of it it's pretty quick to use too!

Dark Quake is looking great for sure
