I use DBP as the platform when I teach games development at my FE College. DBP has been installed on WinXP computers up to upgrade 75. When my students open up projects they get the new editor (a synergy thing).

At home I used to use the 'downloaded' synergy editor but all it does now is tell me its out of time and won't run anymore. I then tried various tweeks to get the editor from U75 to work - it produced peculiar results. In the end I decided to completely uninstall everything to do with DBP (Online) and reinstall it.

I started off with dbpro_5_4_90_high, then entered my activation key. Everthing ok. Then I went through each update all they way to U75. It all seemed to install ok. The problem is when I start DBP (in any way) I still get the old editor running.

I have looked through the threads in the forum but can't find anything about adjusting the launch.cfg file (if thats where the prolem lies). I'm sorry if this has beeen looked at before on the forum but I can't find it.

BTW If I double click the Editornew.exe file I get dozens of little dialog boxes telling me its not working. I have to go into the task manager to kill the process before my PC gets overloaded. That can't be right, can it?

This is why I use BlueIDE, and probably will until it's no longer compatible. I don't know the development history for Synergy, but it's never really been my cup of tea.

I'm still watching the new Indigo editor, as it's being developed by the same person that made BlueIDE. I may switch to that once it's a little further along.

To answer your question though, EditorNew.exe brings up the latest Synergy editor for me. (running Windows 7 64bit) You might try the typical settings for many applications since Vista. Set to run as Adminisrator, and run it under XP SP3 Compatibility with "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition" checked.
