Hi,

TGC are working on a non-violent version of FPSC. It's called First Person Game Maker. It's specifically created for use in Education. The project is 99% complete and we now need someone to help us with some video tutorials for it.

We're looking for someone who;

* Knows FPSC inside and out!
* Can make high quality videos on their PC (grabbing map editor and in game examples)
* Has a confident and easy to understand voice for the videos
* Can produce these quickly for us.

If you're interested please email me direct rick[at]thegamecreators.com and send me a sample video (30 secs would be fine).

Regards,

Rick Vanner

Sadly, I don't have the time. But I made this video tutorial on a 3GHZ Core2Duo running Windows Vista. For capturing the editor I used the free CamStudio (with the Lossless codec installed) and as you can see the video quality is rather high. For all ingame video I used Fraps (not free unless you want watermarks). I was restricted to 720p resolution due to my monitor (720p should still be enough for most ).

As a microphone I used a cheap Logitech headset.

... Just as a hint to anyone who is wondering how to get the right tools without spending too much money.

I would be honoured to make an video tutorial showing how to do things in this sister FPS Creator engine. I am free pretty much all the time. I will send you a sample video when I get home from school. Is YouTube fine just to show the sample?

So we can't make a tutorial video with text only? I could do that just fine, and I'd say I'm pretty decent with FPSC - however, although I'd love to include a narration, the only mic I have is my synthesizer's, which can't record audio onto my computer. If we are 'allowed' to make text videos, I'd be more than happy to help you guys out.

Redoing my entire website... again. EDIT: Finished it! Whew.

Probably too late to add this thought but - it might be an idea to focus on the educational advantages of the software rather than the game making aspect. Especially if it is to be pitched as a tool for schools.
That would mean the videos talk more about "encourages planning" or "addresses key national literacy targets", rather than "this is how you make a wall".
All the best with it.

I wish I had seen this thread when Rick first posted it, but I haven't been in the forums as much as usual lately.

Anywho, email with example has been sent.

Well fancy that! I love FPSC, but I am a mother of a young child who loves to play computer games but I don't like the blood & don't wish to promote guns.

So, I been finding ways to make my games more child friendly and educational.

However, I am informed by the young brigade that games are no fun without some element of danger and they find shooting ok.

I would love this job, I have great software to record the video and I ain't no spring chicken!
I saw this too late, I guess!
