Here's one of my Alienware comp entries - XT Checkers! Yeah, I know, its just Chinese Checkers with the Alien thrown in gratuitously, but what the hey. Anyway, I was hoping someone would be kind enough to test it for me:

1) Does it work
2) What kind of FPS does it give
3) What do you think of the camera control (good/bad/ugly)

Link to the program: http://www.xtgladiators.com/download/XTCheckers.exe
(approx 3MB download)

Here's a screenshot:

Feedback would be appreciated.

[Edit] I haven't done the gameplay yet - this is just the title screen w/ a menu and the camera control.

Looks neat I'll download it when you can actually play it, time is limited.

Cheers,

Rich

?? very original.

but....

i think we can make whatever kind of game we want to do, just use the model and let it see on the screen.
i was believing the game you submit must be a gameplay where the alien models figure in ok, not just to use like a puppet to make the game pass the rules of competition.

i'm wrong?reply me please.

Hard to tell without playing the game Ermes, but I would say this would be perfectly acceptable. The Aliens have to feature in the game in a significant way, which they would appear to do here. Contestants for a "game show" is fine.

Cheers,

Rich

nice, looks cool, one thing though, you might concider applying a texture to the plaing pieces, they'd be alot easer to see and to make out the shape, unless you have some other thoughts in mind just my thoughts ....

I'm almost sorry they put the screenshot in the newsletter - now I have to actually finish the game .

Rich: It's mostly a board game, like checkers or chess (google "Chinese Checkers"). The Alien part of it is two-fold:
1) Animation - when you move the pieces, the alien takes the place of the piece and walks/jumps to the new location.
2) "Alien Enhanced" mode - a gameplay variation where every few rounds, the board gets "jumbled" up based on a thematic cut-scene (casino night, Saturday Night fever, The Matrix fight scene, etc.) where the Aliens do....something.

DarkSun - thanks for the info, at least its not a complete dog.

CPU - You're absolutely correct - those pieces get lost. During one play-test, I thought I'd won - then I realized I still had 1 piece sitting back in home base I'd missed - doh!

Here's an updated screenshot - I hope to have a beta-test version soon.
