Another problem presented itself to me today in the form of custom character model malfunctions. Several characters I downloaded from FPS-Files (Pit Crawler, Robot04) appear to animate "backwards." Their orientation is offset by 180 degrees. They shoot with their back towards the player (holding the gun in a reverse position) and experience similar issues with other actions. I searched the forum in an attempt to find a solution, and I found several threads recommending tweaks to the .fpe file. Using this as a guide I switched the "fixnewy" from 0 to 180 but with no successful outcome. Resetting that value, I then set the "rotx", "roty" and "rotz" to 180 each. Again this proved futile. I don't know how to proceed from here, and any help would be very...helpful. Thanks.

This issue appears to have surfaced before in the community. The threads below address the problem (or a close variant thereof):

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=75156&b=24

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=118063&b=24

However, since the techniques these threads offer aren't proving effective in my case, I'm beginning to question my methodology. I suspect I may have done something wrong in executing the aforementioned correctional techniques. I outlined the process below in the event in may be useful for diagnosis:

0. [recap of problem] Certain models in FPSC are rotated 180 degrees, thus making them walk and shoot backwards.
1. I made a copy of the broken model's .fpe file and stored it in a separate directory so I could keep the original name.
2. I right-clicked the .fpe copy and selected "Edit with Notepad++" from the menu.
3. Once the program loaded, I went to line 28 of the code and changed the "fixnewy" value from 0 to 180.
4. I saved the changes and then closed Notepad++.
5. I removed the original .fpe from the entitybank directory and replaced it with the modified version.
6. I opened FPSC and constructed a short level to test the fix.
7. Upon testing the level (I didn't actually build the game), I found that the model had the same problem as before and the .fpe tweak had registered no visible impact.

I hope the above will aid in identifying the root of the problem. If I can give any more information that would be of assistance in a diagnosis, please let me know and I'll be happy to provide it.

after you edit the fpi you need to delete the bin & dbo files or your changes wont take effect .

Thanks! This resolved half of the problem. The characters now animate properly, but they continue to hold their weapons backwards. I'm not certain if this is an issue with the characters or the weapons, though I presume the former; I checked the weapons' respective .fpe files but didn't find any existing code lines that looked capable of changing their orientation. If there's a way to fix this model bug please let me know.
