I'm not sure if this is the correct section to put this in (perhaps "Bugs"?), but I have been having two problems with the appearance of my entities:
(1) The entities I place (static and dynamic) don't seem to react to light markers. In the example, I put a light directly in front of the entities. There are also other lights I'd placed in lamps, etc., making the hall very bright, but these items are still much darker relative to the rest of the scene. They only react to changes in ambient light, which I need low for other areas of my map.
I am currently using 1.17, no mods, high poly textures, full shader effects, "best for performance" lightmapping and bond1's adaptive bloom. I've also tried altering the settings such as turning off shaders or returning to stock bloom, but the issue remains the same (except turning off lightmapping, which obviously leaves everything dark, as it should.)
Any help is appreciated, but as a side note, I'd rather not use a workaround like trigger zones to change the ambient light. I'd like the entities to react to the light sources themselves; it's why I place them there. Not to mention, it appears very sudden and unnatural in that moment when it changes. It'd be different if all the lights when on or off, but to just have random objects go from dark"er" to light"er" (or vice versa) without any change in the actual light sources appears odd. I tried it.
(2) My other issue, which I also referenced in
Ekipshi's bug thread, is that some of my characters are showing up entirely black. However, unlike he, who perhaps solved his problem by removing the FPSC size-cap, I am still having issues with various FPSC pack characters not appearing. This is not a problem with
all characters. For example, the nurse from MP4 does work and can be seen in the screen shot for the first issue. As is clear in the second shot, though, others such as the police officer do not.
I'd also like to note that, despite the two problems being similar enough to probably warrant a single thread, I don't know if this these issues are
directly related because, while I could find no fix at all for the above problem, turning off shaders does appear to fix the blackened characters. Unfortunately, shaders are needed for other parts of my game, so this isn't a reasonable solution.
Again, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
