Whenever I use a texture on an object, it is just black. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks

Some image file types don't give you an error if the image file doesn't exist. Try pasting the image on the screen (without transparency), if the screen is all black then your image file doesn't exist.

If the image shows up all right by pasting it on the screen, then it is probably the objects' normals or lighting settings that are causing the problem. Try using set object light obj, 0 to see if the texture shows up then.

If the object is pre-textured, ensure it's in the same folder as the object.

perhaps the top left pixel of your texture is black. If it is it means the uv's weren't exported.

Alternatively the normals might not have been initialised correctly.

Are you talking about any object or ones you've created?
