Hi,

Have fired up the machine today and was unable to compile and run the code I've been working on. Compiles ok, then says access violation on running. No other errors. Pressing F6 for debug mode causes a compilation failure.

This is also happening on the demo code - the previously compiled executables run, when recompiled then an access violation occurs.

Have removed all temporary files, but nothing is working now. As far as I'm aware, nothing has been updated on the machine.

Any clues as to where I could find more information from the failure would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Virtual Nomad

The only thing not working is Dark Basic compilation, everything else is fine; a system restore is more than a little drastic for a single application failing.

If the cause isn't known, then the thing that knocked it out in the first place is likely to re-occur. It would be good if there was some reason provided by Dark Basic for the debug compilation failure or why the application fails. Even empty files fail when run through the compiler.

Ah, many thanks for that. I was checking through the Windows Updates, System Logs et al and could find nothing. Would not have thought of the Avast software.

It looks like the forum search only checks the Subject heading - d'oh.
