I purchased DBPro in 2006. I just upgraded to Win 7/64 bit and downloaded the latest DBPro that is available on my download page. My version says 1.054. When I look on TGC website it says that there is a DBPro version 7.5 upgrade available. Is my version 1.05 upgradable to version 7.5? If so, is it a worthwhile upgrade? Am I talking about two different things?
Thanks,

Yes, yes and no.

Actually the latest update is U7.6 and there is a pre-release version U7.7 available.

Some commands will have changed but if you have problems just ask.

So, if I download the 7.5 upgrade, will it upgrade version 1.05 to 7.5 at no extra cost?

I downloaded the 7.5 update and tried to install it. The installation process made my computer crash and I don't think it had anything to do with MaCafee antivirus. During installation it popped up HUNDREDSS of two types of notification windows in the center of the screen, one on top of the other. I can't remember what the windows said but the second smaller type of window said something about "installing page..." or something like that. There was no way to stop the process using the Control Panel/Task Manager. I was finally able to shut down the computer but needless to say, I have deleted DBPro completely from my computer. I will have to try it on another computer that I have which is running XP32.

try installing the online version and upgrade it from there. It can be found at:

It works great and only has advertisements on the bottom. Fully functional

If I started from scratch with the free online version of DBPro, would it be possible to use my "original key" that was paid for instead of requesting a "new key"? If I use my original "paid for key", will I still get advertisements (which I hate). What will happen if I try to install and use my "paid for" version of DarkPhysics on this free version? Am I the only DBPro user that has these problems with installing and running DBPro?

Actually, I just read the limitations on the free online version and it says that the free version is strictly for single home users only and not for educational or business use. I am a university professor and am trying to use DBPro for developing educational scientific visualization materials for my students in plant biology. So, I guess I can't really use the free version for my work and will have to stick to the purchased DBPro.

Ok.... So I installed and updated DBPro on my Xp/32 bit machine and it runs perfectly. The same version of McAfee antivirus (with the same updates) is running on this machine as on my Win7/64bit machine (where everything crashes). I'm happy now, but disappointed that I can't run it on my newer machine.

It runs on Win7/64bit there are a few posts about installation, etc. And it is not 1.054 to 7.5, think of it as going from 1.054 to 1.075.

Well, to answer your first question, yes, you could technically use your original key and it would treat it like an original as oppose to a online version but thats another story. But you are right, I forgot its only for home use.
