I have been working on a model, and finally finished it. It is multi-textured so I left it as dynamic. The issue is, you can go inside the top of the entity. It seems to have polygon collision, and very bad polygon collision at that. Any solutions to fixing this, as I want it to have basic box collision.

Try using a shelled object. I used it for the Bathyspere and the Gas Chamber I did for Zwarte Piet. That is if you have 3D max. I am not sure if the other programs have a shelled feature in them.

Basically what is does is hollows out an object, Making the inside have normal faces also. I believe that I had to set collision to Polygon in stead of box.
Hope this helps

And yes Multi textured entitys need to be dynamic and also the path in the Xfile might need to point to your texture location. I just keep the textures in the same directory as the model when I export it and it seems to work fine.

Sometimes it is easier to have the part you want to go into to be a seperate entity, I would probably have both the entitys set to polygon collision.

It is an arcade machine, and you can jump onto it and then end up inside of it. This is not what I want, I want it to have a collision box around it. Should I go back into Wings 3d, and add a box around it will all black textures?

Just go back to Wings 3d and put a box base at the buttom.
Keep the box collision. Also make sure that the base of the model is at world coordinates 0,0,0. You are not putting an extreme scale in the FPE file are you?

The picture just does not give the full picture.

Worse comes to worse, export the xfile and send it to the email under the window. And I will look at it if you want.

Yep, A little bit of scale does not effect so much, But that is a lot. Segments are 8'4" hieght or 2.34 or 2.54 meters. (Pardon my conversion).

Import a wall segment from the wwII pack from the meshbank for size reference.

Alright, I am still playing with the scale in Wings to get the right hight, but after putting the fpe scale to 0, and scaling the model in the editor, the top is still walk-through. I have posted a screenshot. The character is crouching. Again any help is appreciated.

FPE scale should start at 100. What script are you using if any.

The only thing I can say is, can you see the collision dot, Red or green when you place this entity.

Does it have a bottom. This helps greatly.

1. Oops I put 0 not 100. And default script
2. Small green ring visible around it.
3. Yes it has a bottom.

Not a problem. Sometimes a different set of eyes is all you need.

Actually... I still am having the same issue. I'm running on BETA 6 if that helps. I think I'm just going to put it in an all black box haha.

I am on beta 6 also.
I jumped on top of it. I could not get inside. I will clear dbo and bin and test again. A black box around it is not the answer.

Yes I can stand on top of and jump up and down on it without falling through it. But if I stand on top of it and then crouch I am inside the top. Kind of a strange situation to want to be able to get up there and crouch.

I will open the xfile in 3Dmax and look at the geometry.

I will get right back with you.

I have looked at the geometry in Max from x file, MS3D, and FBX.

It appears that when on top and crouching that you are actually standing on the Joystick Deck. Even if you walk off the back it appear to be the same height as the front.

Try changing the collision in the FPE file to 1 - Polygon, then try number 3 Cylindrical and see if any of these inprove the situation.

I have rescaled it up in max a bit to see if that would make a diffence. But it did not. I even collapsed it all into one mesh and it did not help either. I would start with the Joystick deck as your first culprit, as that appears to be the one player is actually standing on.

As I do not have Wings 3d I really cant say, All I see is the results in the game engine. Sorry I could not solve complete.

Try just a square box the same dimension and make a quick FPE file and see if you can even get on top of it. I think you will find you cant. But as you stated earlier, I will just put a black box around it, Just might be the solution unless you want to play with the mesh some more. Sorry
