Hi all,

I got a shiny new Gigabyte T1000P netbook for xmas, and have been fiddling with getting DBPro to work, specifically the Physics demos.
I have installed the latest Physx drivers, directx 9c, update 7.5 running as Admin

While I can compile all code with no errors, some will run, but all will not exit correctly (i.e. escape does not exit, but causes a crash) and the physx demos all fail to even run (but do compile)

So in short... Does DBPro work on Windows 7 Starter on a Netbook?

It sounds like you've done everything perfectly, I don't see why it wouldn't work on starter( i don't even know the difference from normal windows 7, so don't take my word on that one ). What are the specs of the laptop? Do you have issues with anything else? Have you tried reinstalling Directx, and Physx?

Physx requires a pretty hefty gpu. Typically, the sort of laptops that runs starter editions of Windows, don't come with better graphics hardware.

Without knowing the specs of your new computer, that would be my guess.

Hi,

I received a Netbook with Windows 7 Starter for father’s day. Sorry I don’t know why you are having problems. I hardly see much difference between DBPro running on my Windows XP, desktop and it. I don’t have Darkphysics but the cloth and particles work. I just ran the Ghost Train Example without a problem. Just so you know Windows 7 Starter will work with DBPro on a Netbook.

Thanks WickedXGames,

at least I know it's not Windows7 starter!
I got the Nvidia Physx C++ demos working (and was supprised how well they work), so it's not a Physx running on Netbook issue either.

I think a clean install of DBPro is in order (again).

Well after fiddling for a while, I came up with the following.
Assuming you are running the current 1.75 or better of DBPro and the Physx 1.05 plugin

Download from Nvidia the 8.04.25 System Software from http://developer.nvidia.com/object/physx_archives.html

Install as per normal

Open explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\AGEIA
Technologies\demos

Copy the file DarkPhysics.dll

Navigate to C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\Dark Basic Professional\Compiler\plugins-licensed and paste the copied file (overwrite when prompted)

This fix is specific to a Gigabyte T1000P (not that is really a fix).
