Hi CrystalMoth, welcome to the TGC Forums!

What are your computer specs? What version of Windows do you have (XP, Vista or 7, and is it 32 or 64-bit)? And do you have DirectX 9 installed?

I have Windows 7 64bit. I believe I have DirectX 9 installed, how do I check. My computer is an HP Touchsmart laptop with 4 gig of ram and a 320g hard drive.

Is there no error reported at all when you try to compile?

I'm not 100% sure how to check if you have DX9 installed, but I do know that the version you need is here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=cb7397f3-0949-487b-9247-8fee451bf952&displaylang=en

And I second Benjamin's question as well.

No, no error, but I'm capable of running some examples but not my own code. And when I try to run a sample it looks as though its going to fail but the it starts.

Do you have an antivirus installed? I think some of them block the DBPro compiler. Also, what version of the IDE/Compiler do you have?

BASIC programmers never die, they GOSUB and don't RETURN.

There are some troubles with running DBPro on Windows 7 64-bit. I had some issues trying to run it when I got my new laptop. It was resolved by running it as administrator and changing IDEs. Try running it as administrator.

My gosh, thanks. Running my program as admin worked. I'm running 7 and just bought Darkbasic pro and wasn't even able to get the "hello world" sample from the help section to work.

I kept getting a message; "licensed plugin is not recognised by the compiler" and that I should get an update. I just bought the software.

I'm still getting that message but at least now the sample code worked. That's encouraging. Again, thanks.

Failed to 'CFileBuilder::AddPCKToEXE'

Yeah, the IDE flickers quite a bit unfortunately. It annoys the heck out of me. :\

The error you're getting is quite normal during programming, and it's one of the most annoying things about DBP in my opinion. You've just to keep trying to compile and run the code until it actually runs.

There's an IDE in the Work-In-Progress threads that's being developed, and while there isn't a demo yet available it looks and sounds quite promising. The developers are saying that it runs on Windows 7 without a hitch, so once it comes out I plan to use it.
