I have used the search feature here on the board and google searched any tutorials on how to make a slot machine game. If anyone has any info on how to make one I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Why not give it a go yourself, and write up your adventure here? When ever I'm wanting to code up a new project, I use these forums for thinking out loud, as such.

I've been thinking about a slot machine project for a year or two now myself. Perhaps we could have a slot machine challenge!

well you need to pick 3 random numbers (one for each wheel). Associate each number with an image. Then, if all 3 numbers are alike then payout.

ie
1,1,1 = $10
2,2,2 = $100
3,3,3 = $1000
4,4,4 = $10,000
5,5,5 = $100,000

since each number corresponds with an image you can display the images as sprites.

thats the basics. feel free to be creative and add plenty of your own ideas! If you need any specific help just ask.

You guys are awesome, thanks a bunch this give me an idea on how I can do this, I have the layout, I will upload what I have so far in another post. I have an image with 3 squares cut out, I will have the reel strips spin behind the image peeking through the square cut outs, the trouble I am having is, I am making each reel have 12 characters but Im having a hard time figuring out how Im going to make each image on the reel be an independent image but still be on the strip, for example if on all strips there are an apple, cherry, bar, and orange, and there are three independent strips to show as three reels, how would I make each image be its own value on each strip, like

if Apple + Apple + Apple =100
or Orange + Apple + Apple=50
Orange + Bar + Apple=0

Certain combinations of the characters on the reel strips give different wins or losses.

The reels are .PNG Images with the characters or reel icons aligned vertically.

Thanks in advance guys!!!

Awesome? Awww.

Here's something that may help. I coded it whilst I'm waiting for a meeting at work, it took less than an hour so I think I just broke a personal record! Woo!

In the code, I use functions, arrays, variables and a Select Case system. Please let me know if you need any of these explained. Hopefully it all makes sense though.

Oh, I've also attached a render of a 3D model that I'm working on too.
