Hi, I'm currently new to fps, but I just wanted to know what is better, x10 or x9. Also, I currently have x10, what are the things that you think should I do immediately (scripts model packs to download?)

Performace/Graphicaly X10 is better.

But the best is in fact X9, just look at all the features X10 doesn't have (Dark AI, Large model base, etc...)

C++ is labourless... if your name starts with 'L' and ends with 'ee'.

If you get X10 then you can use the serial code to get X9, It's up to personal preference but I would stick with X9 as it is becoming gradually better than X10. Plus, the original huds in X10 look ugly IMO.

If you can see the enemy, they can see you.

I'm still holding out hope for FPSCreator 300 (I hear it's going to come with your own Spartan Army)!

Nice. Much better than that x9 or x10 One can always use a Spartan army.

You don't already have yours? pftt.. Mine jumped out of the box when I got my FPSC disc, they're all my little bi***es though. Spartacus makes a killer cup of coffee.

While I'm not joining in with my opinion, for fear of a flame war, x10 has DarkAI vanilla. All models are compatible with minor or no modification.

Yeah, but why does x10, sounds more recent (10>9) Actually, the reason I started this was the fact that many packs (including the one with modern warfare) isn't compatible with x10 (which I think *sorry for the word* kinda stupid. I'm considering x9. Lalalala....

I have both of them with lots of other stuff I obtained from TGC (I`m glad there are now prizes in the order history or i would be quite shocked how much i already spent here *g*)

I`ve also played around with both of them and I have to say that FPSC X9 is better. Why?

- Because you don`t need DX10(which is not that cruzial anymore, Win XP is dying anyway)
- You can push the look of your games on X9 to X10 level or even higher. See bond shaders for segments and static entities.
- I have experienced X9 1.18+ to be faster and more stable when it comes to big levels with lots of entities.
- X9 is been constantly improved. X10 is left4dead.

Come to where the madness is:

True, but the implementation is by far not as flexible and mature as the X9 one.

Quote: "All models are compatible"

But none of the X9 Characters can be used within X10, unless they use completely different scripts and shaders - not to mention that TF341 and Viral Outbreak are X9 only and can't really be used within X10.

The way I see it is, that X10 slowly becomes the little brother of the X9 version, as it's more for the people that directly want to see results without getting their hands dirty (DarkAI Settings can be controlled in the Entity Settings easily, Ingame Gui to change the visuals), while X9 is the slightly harder to use version that has way more power under the hood - way more fpi commands, pixel perfect hit detection, now also supports post processing and water out of the box, entity shaders can be controlled via scripts ingame, etc.

Not to mention that X9 has way more Community Mods that constantly change it for the better.

Get X9 first, then get hold of as many models & model packs as you can, doesn't matter whether you need them or not just get them as you will need them sometime. Also some of the models / packs that members do are sometimes removed (butter cutter, Wizard Of Id's sci-fi updates for example) and you'll find you need them somewhere down the line.

Good luck.

Ha! That is what I did when I first came here, "Ohhhh It's FREEE download download download".. it is a good way to get your feet wet, but don't get lost.
[just came back to add]
Get your feet wet with all the media you can in order to learn the interface of FPSC, but then make sure you move on to start learning to tweak the scripts.

Go with x9.x10 is far from where it should be.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

x10 is easier to use in respect to its currently exclusive features, plus it has waaayy better graphics. x9 however is more open source and supports some content x10 doesn't

Viral Outbreak has been made working for x10
Again, just some modification. Not sure about MP53, though.

Quote: "True, but the implementation is by far not as flexible and mature as the X9 one."

Agreed.

Quote: "while X9 is the slightly harder to use version that has way more power under the hood"

x10 has far more potential, but definitely is not better at the current state of things.
