Good day!

I'm new here, and I'm also new to DarkBasic Pro (though I used DB back when it was still in v1). I'm not too keen on programming either (I just do it for fun). Personal details aside...

I made a simple program and compiled it. I sent the .exe to my friend who is on Windows 7 64-bit, and when he tries to open the program he gets this error message: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc00000005)". I'm not sure if it's because he's using a 64-bit OS (I on the other hand use Windows Vista 32-bit). The application works fine in my computer and all.

Might anyone know the problem? Much much thanks!

It's because of Avast, other people have had the same problem.

Not really. I run Avast on my machine (Vista), and didn't have any problems with it. And yes, I have the latest updates. It probably has more to do with Windows 7 64-bit.

I'm still not convinced. Different machines are affected differently, these might be just some of the unlucky ones.

Maybe, however, none of those are for Dbpro applications...

I too must say that it isn't Avast. I run on the latest version of Avast myself, and everything works fine (my compiled programs as well as DarkBasic itself). This goes for both my desktop (Win Vista, 32bit) and laptop (Win 7, 32bit) which both have Avast. Also, my friend isn't using Avast. I believe he's using AVG.

Thanks for all the replies! Hopefully we can find the culprit here.

Okay, I just received the latest program updates form Avast, and everything is still in working condition. Is it possible that Windows 7 + Avast is causing this issue? I hope TGC can relay this to Avast. I have been a big supporter for the two since I was still in my teenage years. I hate to see both programs in conflict.

I have 3 machines I run it on...

Win7 32-bit No Avast = OK
Win7 32-Bit Avast = OK
Win 7 64-bit Avast = Sometimes OK, Sometimes not

These results may be affected by Avast updates (Haven't researched this) and/or Newton Physics DLLs.

I have win 7 32 and if I delete Avast I can make exe. If i don't have it deleted I get The application was unable to start correctly (0xc00000005)". That is my problem, but there most likely more than one problem.

Tell your antivirus software to exclude any DBPro directory you are creating programs in.
If your antivirus software won't let you exclude directories, then it's time to change antivirus software.

Yep. Time to change antivirus software.
I had the same error and nothing I did in Avast would fix it.
Uninstalled Avast and suddenly everything worked perfect.

Had the same problem after an avast update in January, I uninstalled and then the apps ran fine, then I installed avast again and the same problem... Had to change AV software even though I like avast a lot. (Running Windows 7 64 bit)

OK, that fixed it for me, now running AVG. I'll let the TGC team know about this.
