I've a software which would give FPSC games more interactivity. Its license allows to sell your work as well as FPSC, but I don't know if FPSC allows it as well. Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks, Javier

We would probably need more specifics, but vanilla FPS Creator has no feature which allows you to insert or call other executables or files. It's something you would have to MOD into the source.

Brian,
Thanks for reply. I found the way to call any kind of application from FPS Creator without programming at ALL!. I cannot give the name here due to forum polices "advertisement". We don't need any MOD. Let me tell you how right now!
With FPSC you can display images on the screen right?, ok, this software detect that image and then you can trigger any exe, flash, excel, what ever file you want. Also, you can design custom windows to matches your FPS background! With this software you can design interactive menus, databases, flash animations....even internet connection and web based applications!!!! What you say.

Does the end user need to have that software installed or running on their system for that to work?

No. You compile your FPSC exe as allways AND all your interactivity files are controled for another (exe) created with this software. Example; Every time that you want to trigger something, you display a specific image on the screen on your game. This software detects the image and open the file that you want to that time (other pics, exe's, flash, exel, word...menus... interactive windows...also, depend of what you want to do with it, you continue with your game or trigger WHATEVER YOU want, another FPSC stage...anything. When you deliver your game it will include all the files that you want to interact with, included the exe controller made with this software. Of curse, as soon you buy this software, you can create and redistribute as many applications you want.

Thanks Javier

That sounds like the kind of functionality that would be welcomed by many serious developers on the forum. I understand the reticence to ‘advertise’ a product, but perhaps we could get some Mod guidance on this one: if the software you know of is commercial (since you mention buying) it would be the decision of the individual to buy it or not – all you are doing is kindly drawing the existence of a new and potentially useful tool to the attention of the community.

Something about all this sounds familiar. You should show what you are talking about, with a link/image/etc.

Yeah, I remember something about this too, but for some reason it didn't catch on. Still like to check it out though.

Brian.

Keith, have you checked this thread lately?

The only mod that has the ability to launch EXE's at this point to date is RPG Mod. Unfortunately, we kept that in-house while the mod had it's public run. In our eyes, that was a dangerous feature to grant to inexperienced developers, and opened a door to many issues that would no doubt fall back on us to deal with.

Nothing more annoying than cryptic posts to try and advertise something.

LOL no problem Brian.

I am familiar with this, and that was why we looked at the method of launching EXE's through our own mod. The idea is nice, but to be honest it is something that can be abused. That plus the current cost will be enough to keep most from using it.

@ Landmark

This is the third time you've tried to advertise the same thing. Did you not learn from the other two threads?

Yes; I saw it Brian, as soon as I can get a few spare minutes I'll update everyone. Thanks for posting in that thread, your program looks pretty sweet!

I'm locking this; I've also slapped the author for (yet again) advertising something that was already frowned on.
