Hey all,

Well, straight to the point, whenever I have one of the characters from the Gore Pack(mp22) with shaders turned on, they are invisible. Shaders on are a must for what I am working on, I know the characters are there, I can see the shadow and hear them, but they are fully transparent.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jared

You need a video card that supports shader model 3.0. The shaders in that pack require it.

Odd I have an ATI Radeon HD 5850, would've thought that would support it...
Also, They are invisible with any other shader, or even with none D:

I had same issue with it, only mines ATI HD3650, Bond had responded saying that it the card wasn't compatible with it...I think I'll have to search out my old post.

You could try reporting the bug on AMD' forums here: http://forums.amd.com/game/categories.cfm?catid=279&entercat=y

I wouldn't hold your breath though, pixel shader 3 is STILL broken after many years on ATI cards in 3ds Max, and that is a huge mainstream development app. It seems not all ATI cards work with ps3.0, and only with certain games.

Suggest selling your ATI card on ebay and getting a nice Nvidia equivalent? Or you could also use a ps2 shader from Zombie Apocalypse instead.

I wouldn't really call it poor on ATI's part...Shader Model 3.0 games work fine on my system, and I'm running an HD 5450.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

That's great that it's working for you, but I see many others with ATI cards consistently having a problem. Seems like it comes up every 6 months or so. I don't know if it's driver related, or that some ATI cards just flat out don't work. But it's enough to make me not recommend ATI cards. Plus it's documented that ATI cards don't work with SM3 in 3ds Max - so ATI isn't even an option for me.

I mean, if you're going to spend a few hundred dollars, why not get the peace of mind that comes with an Nvidia card? That's just my take on it, no fanboy-ism here.
