I'm developing a sidescroller engine for me sideview 2.5D RTS, which uses/would use 3 layers scrolled in a way it feels more 3D.

The third layer would have been scrolled backdrop, but i had to realise someone thought it was a stupid thing to have for DBPro. Why would you delete anything like this, it is just one of the small elements that all being together makes a real flexible game making language! Without these, it becomes some drag & drop cr*p!

I can't afford the third layer to be object based, it is already under 30fps. My computer is a low-end nothing, but i want my game to be able to be as widely played as possible.

So: '...is scroll backdrop back with any of the recent upgrades?' OR 'Bring back SCROLL BACKDROP with U77!!!'

(ps.: which version was the DOWNGRADE that did this to DBPro?)

I agree, obsolete commands should not be removed. It breaks old code, tutorials, etc.

In your case, you could try using a screen-sized sprite, and shift the uv coords of the image on the sprite.

You can use 3 huge pasted images and just move the images at different speeds.
