Yeah everything appears to be back to normal ....I'm so happy (even if I did manage to get more coding done in the past week than in the previous 3 months)

Seems to be a problem with me not being able to do a hostname lookup.
I can browse the forums via http://www.anonymization.net/http://www.dannywartnaby.co.uk/rgt/ so if anyone else is having the same problem try that link.

Yeah, except as sessions aren't allowed with the anonymizer I can only login, but as soon as I go to a different page (for example to post a reply) I'm logged out again.

I've found a solution for all you people who like me have ISPs that still think the domain is expired; your computer can act as a local DNS.

This is how you do it in Win9x/Me, I'm not entirely sure how you do it in NT/2k/XP but I know it can be done somehow.
In your Windows-directory there should be a file called HOSTS (just "HOSTS", no file extension). If this file doesn't exist, create it. Open it in notepad and add the following line:


Save the file and restart your web browser. Your PC should now bypass online hostname lookups and instead use the IP specified in the hosts-file enableing you to browse the LLRGT forums normally.

Drake - you Develop in DB, you should be used to workarounds by now! .

Seriously though, according to my domain host, it should take around 24 hours (maybe slightly longer) to work fully again.

well i looked in the c:winnt folder, and there was no HOSTS file, so i made one and put that line in. now, instead of getting a 404 error, i get a prettier "DNS does not exist" error.

i'd like to know how to do this in win2k, cause Fog did it in XP, and i'm starting to have RGT withdrawl.

In XP the HOSTS file I changed is actually in \windows\system32\drivers\etc

HOSTS file can also be used to block pop-up ads .
