I feel stupid for not knowing this but, How do you install an engine mod?

I believe the mods come with instructions. have you read the documentation for the mod your installing?

Each mod has its own instructions on how to install, but mostly it is replacing the original fpscreator application. And I'll leave Nickydude to his usual spiel.

To be a little more detailed,

Most commonly you would go to the root directory of your FPSC installation, rename the stock FPSC-Game (the easiest is to just rename it, xFPSC-Game). Then drop the new modded FPSC into the root directory, rename it FPSC-Game. Then as everyone else said, the rest is normally specific to the mod you are using, adding additional scripts and hacks.

I suppose if you are using a particular mod from someone else here on the forum it would be best to direct questions straight to the threads supporting that mod or to the creaotr itself.
