1:How would i get a picture on top of my CD to say like the name of the game.

2:How can i make the book for the game.

and 3: how can i make the front and back cover for the case.

1. You can buy cd stickers on A4 sheets somewhere, probably at a newsagency. You can download templates for disk covers for microsoft word somewhere aswell.

2. You would have to make them yourself, buy some photo paper and a stapler, then print onto the photo paper and cut it down to size with a guillotine or some scissors, then just staplel it together, make sure to include the game controls in it.

3. A4 paper is a little too big. Try looking up some templates, I'll upload an example picture in a few hours, got to go somewhere

Don't know if you have MS Publisher but that has templates in it for what you need. I think you'll be able to find template files on the 'net for DVD cases.
To make the booklet, you could download Open Office (if you don't have MS Office) and even 'print' it as a PDF, then just put it on the CD.
On-face CD printing would need to be a sticky label unless you can get a tray to fit your inkjet printer - some do that.

Try Neato, they have everything for labelling. I've bought stuff off them in the past.

for the disks, get a lightscribe drive and disks. they burn the image onto them, no paint or labels.

I got this printer free when I bought my canon rebel. It does a great job for what it is. Also it has tray you stick a printable cd in and it prints the image right on the disc. Looks very good and professional and lasts longer than a sticker label.

@ Warstormed- Good idea, but pictures can only be drawn on the part of the disk that does not have any data on it, so depending on how much stuff he plans to put on there, the lightscribe job might look very odd.

@ Always needing help- Sticker labels are probably your cheapest bet. If you can get your hands on a printer like raymondlee or just order them, they will look better, but cost more.

It burns the image on the opposite side of the disc. Exactly where the label would go if you stuck one on.

exactly. look at those:
http://www.google.com/images?q=lightscribe&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=E1RbTd7EL8iCtgfX0NiQDA&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=5&ved=0CGcQsAQwBA&biw=1416&bih=665
it is where you would have the label. and most drives have lightscribe now. even $20 drives have it. i need to get some lightscribe disks actually. I do lots of burning, and some stuff should be pretty.

One advice: don't invest in any equipment until your game is actually finished and has a demo that really makes an impression. Physical distribution is expensive and not worth the effort if your game isn't up to it.

Have you thought about digital distribution? It's what all the cool guys are doing...

edit: typo fixed

He'll have to have a lot of money stored away, because LiteScribe disc's are VERY expensive still. Not to mention, he'd need a LiteScribe burner for it to be useful. They're cheap now, yes, but there are still a lot of people who don't have them.

I agree with Scurvy. You need to make a demo or show some kind of progress, otherwise you might end up spending loads of money on a dead investment.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

Sorry, but they're not any more. You can get a pack of 10 for under £6.

In the United States that is roughly $10.00. $1 a disk. You can get a pack of 50 standard DVD's for about $17. I don't see LiteScribe as being a real popular thing until the prices climb down quite significantly. Again, it really depends on your budget. I see no need, because you can buy blank disks and put a label on, people would never know. Heck, even companies like Nvidia distribute their driver disks with their cards on CD's with stick labels.

Am I missing something? These are 100 lightscribe discs for $34.99 USD. Or are talking about a different type of disc?

Not a bad deal, shame they're multi-colored.

If you run a search on amazon, there are a few hundred options to choose from in different colors and quantities. That was just the first one that popped up.

I think it is a bad deal.... here is a quote from a customer of the discs: "Super Media Store is not a good vendor. Do not order ANYTHING from this store. I have had several issues with them and the customer service stinks to high heaven. Not only did they not acknowledge my order, but they cancelled with NO REASON given to Amazon. I was told that the product was shipping out on Thursday. When I came in on Monday, the order no longer existed in my profile! No phone call, no emails. I called Amazon to find out what happened and was told that Super Media Store cancelled and DID NOT provide a reason."

I forgot to post it earlier, here's pretty much what a game cover should look like, it was from my first fpsc project

OFFTOPIC

(Although Iam not often online in TGC but maybe I can online awhile if I had a free time.Iam learning and developing a game using UDK but I still love FPS Creator)

I think if you new to FPS Creator dont try to sell the game or people will hate it.Try to make a game for free first and get the critic and comment for your game.I think its a good ideal and sorry for offtopic.

Have A Good Day

Make sure your CD / DVD rails support a standard removable drive. By standard, most laptops feature an easy removal system for drives now, you slide your finger, a tab pops out, you put your new drive in, done.

On the notion of LightScribe:
Whenever you are looking for a product, go straight to the source to find out what they have to offer, then make your way out to other distributors to see where and if prices can be beat.

Physical distribution is an expensive process if your doing it from home. Your using your own ink, paper and cds/dvds. I'd suggest trying to sell them online first, digitally.
