I have noticed that a few peeps on the forum have written/are writing games/applications which have a modular structure to them. By modular I mean that if a certain 'module' is in oyur game directory, additional features will be available. This also gives one the scope to write modules for someone else's application.

My question is how do you go about writing an appliction that utilises a modular structure? Does DBPro have inherent commands for this? If not, where do I start?

You can't do that directly with DBC or DBPro, but I guess you can do it with external DLLs, loading them at runtime and using the original DLL commands

Ah I see. So no scope for expansion packs in your games, etc?

Yes, you can have "expansion packs". Sky roads for example uses external files to describe each level. I guess this is what you were talking about in your original mail.

So long as you write your game in a way that it reads in the data required for each level (or whatever else may be relevant), you can do it.

This is why I was trying to design a scripting language for my project. i need to be able to add to the game at any point, not just lay it out and lock it all away.
