I as some of you am affected by this issue. I have tested, retested and tested again. I am posting my findings so that everyone experiencing this will test and verify my results, in the hope that with all the facts there will be a cure. The problem for me is not with shaders. It is not with lightmapping. It is when there combined.

I built a 2x2 tile room using Control Room Full. I ran a test build with lightmapping on. This worked as it should. With lightmapping off and shaders on, the only way I could get this to work was by adding two dynamic lights. Without the two dynamic lights all static object where black. To get lightmapping and shaders to work together it was necessary to connect a 1x1 tile room separated by a door using a dynamic entity. Add a static entity and move one of the dynamic lights into the 1x1 tile room. After that it seems as long as I had the two dynamic lights and a static or dynamic light in any additional close area, it worked.

At this point I close FPSC and launched it again, opened my map and ran a test build. I was back to square one. I ran a test build with lightmapping only. Than I ran a test build with shaders only. They both worked fine. Next I combined them both and it worked.

If you are affected by this issue, please verify this for me and post your results. Remember you may need to perform the steps highlighted above between builds. If this works maybe someone with a google account can post it on google code.

Addendum: Just tried the water demo. Added the two dynamic lights and went through the highlighted steps. It worked as it should. But wait, there’s no static entity in the demo. Removed the static entity from my little map and went trough the steps and guess what, it worked. Also the water demo doesn’t have a room separated by a door. For some reason removing them don’t seem to work in my map.

Thank you all.

I stand firm that there's a problem with something. Unless I add a static entity or turn off shaders, or lightmapping off and shaders on,
the map does not work properly. I have tried this on Windows 7, Vista, and XP, Different video drivers from 1.85 to 266.58. I don't think it's my video card, because it never gives me trouble with anything else. I don't know what to do except use a small static entity. If people that experience a problem similar to this post about it it can be fixed. Lee seems to think it is just me that has this problem.
That's my 2 cents.

I have a shader issue also. Vista with integrated video and 1.18.009. When I use shaders I get some static entities that show a bunch of squares of black and white or multi colors. Also some segments have multi colored look instead of normal texture. Doors are black in some areas. I thought maybe its my computer, but not sure now. I will try the above to see what happens.

Also using no ambient light on this map.

@blauweogen

Since your not using ambient light, I assume your using lightmapping. I think that’s the problem. Have you tried deleting all files in the files\levelbank folders? Open all directories in this folder and delete all files. The files in the lightmaps folder are the main problem. Do not delete any folders just the files. Then run FPSCreatorCleaner and see if that helps. I don't really think it's your system.

Good luck.

@WickedXGames

Thanks I will try that. I did notice if I placed a dynamic light at the doors it lit them instead of them being black. This doesn't help the shader issue.

Hmm, I really thought it would work. I removed the files and I noticed that the lightmap dss files looked exactly like what my game was looking, all strange. I read some other threads yesterday, but anyway here is what happened. When I tested the game, all the lightmap files were created again exactly like they were before.

I removed the files, and ran cleaner. The only thing maybe is I renamed the level1.zip to 1level1.zip, but I don't think that it is still using that renamed file. But... Here is a image of one of the lightmap dds files.

The newer shaders don't like integrated cards.

Kinda afraid of that!

Should my lightmap images look like the image above? I would think that if they should look different, it doesn't have anything to do with a card. I just don't know what they SHOULD look like.

The new shaders work just fine on my HP Netbooks integrated graphics card. I am running v118 beta9 on Windows 7.

For some reason FPSC is using the lightmap data for the textures. I have had this problem before. One last thing I can suggest, do as I stated above. Open my computer, go to C:\Documents and Settings\(your user name)\Local Settings\temp. and delete the temp files and try again.

It's worth a shot.

Tried it, no luck. Thanks for the thoughts though. It would be nice to use lightmaps and shaders. The other thread I read had temp work arounds, but they don't seem to work for me.
