I have light which I want to look like is coming from a light-source. However the texture of the light-source is dark so even when I have a light near it it doesn't look like it's 'on'.

Could someone give me some idea of what sort of thing I need to change in the texture to make it look lit. When I do it it always looks nothing like I intended.

So even though light is coming from them they look off, so it breaks the illusion. I know model pack three has a couple of lights that come in on and off formats but even studying those textures doesn't help me.

Also could someone more knowledgeable explain why certain entities light up like this even when the light-source is nowhere near them?

@Thraxas, threw these together real quick; hopefully they'll help...

EDIT: Can't get the image codes to work, so here are their links:

(The bloom also makes the illumination a bit more obvious).

Thank you so much. That's so much better.

@Thraxas: I used the same stock WW2 lamp as you did and in my (full shader/postprocessing=1)
level it worked perfectly

Hmm, that doesn't work for me...
When I chose as effect effectbank\illuminationmap\illuminationmap.fx
I see no change.
Do I have to turn something on in setup.ini (I have already postprocessing=1)?

The effect that I use works perfectly for all of the ww2 light source entities -

It's the illuminationent one

If you try using that effect on the light entities Thraxas, you should see a difference.

Hope that helped.

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.
