I dont have x10 but in x9 this happens when shaders are not turned on. Not sure how x10 works but in x9 under prefernces there is an option to have shaders turned on or off. If x10 is similar then turn on shader effects.

Edit: Also there is a board for just for x10, so those guys would probably know more about the problem.
