This was a game I started for the Intel competition but didn't finish in time. It's as good as done and in the Beta testing phase on AppUp. There will be a free demo version on AppUp too.

Anyway I thought it was time for a PA.

I'll try to upload a new youtube video soon but for now here is a quick screenshot for those of you who haven't seen the Intel Comp thread:

During the Beta testing phase there's a full version of the game available here:
Backlash - Ninja Training - Beta

I'll replace this with the demo once the game is through validation so if you want to play the full game now is the time to grab an unfinished but basically working version. If I don't find any major bugs it'll be the release version.

It only runs at 40fps for reasons too annoying to go into so if you don't like games that run at less than a certain framerate please don't say I didn't tell you

Haï! Hwoo!
I liked this game very much during the compo! And, I still do.
The Ninja culture has always appealed to me, I guess. Heheheh.
The funny screams he makes are really pleasant to hear!
And the 'cartoony' graphics style is simple, but enjoyable for everyone to look at, no matter what age.
The music and sounds fit perfectly.
There is however a 'bug' I found while playing the second level. After I died on the second level, I wanted to try the same level over, but got the error: 'object does not exist at line 5620. Object number not found: 700'.
I'll do some more testing and see if I can spot more 'bugs'.
Overall a great little game, baxslash! Well done!

Cheers

Thanks @The Slayer!

I'm just working on several bugs at the moment (in between other projects...).

Thanks for testing it!

Excellent game! Stylish graphics. Music and sound fx are also very good.
I always favored games with ninja characters. I plan of making a game like the original 2d shinobi sometime in the future.

Yeah, I tried this out during the compo and really liked it, I think it would have won a prize.

It seemed like you put most of your time into this and then put it to one side to develop 'the last stand', this turned out to be a great decision with all the prizes it won.

Will be good to see the little ninja released upon the world

Thanks Matty! The main problem here is fps on a netbook but it's also a pretty short game...

I may use this as a free demo and if it does well make a larger follow up game, possibly as more of a 2D game though.
