Well I have had FPSC X9 for about a month now. Bought a few Model packs. Made a bunch of maps. I am working off a laptop so I have to jack up my players speed once I start adding entities to get through the map without the lag. Quite frankly I am begining to get a little bored. I have tried designing maps with a story and concept in mind only to do the same things halway, rooms, stairs, lifts over and over again. Now I have played tons of shooters and I realize this is what they basiclly are. But at times I feel like I am recreating Wolfenstein as opposed to something that is fun and somewhat challanging to play. Can anyone help a newbie with some pointers.

You could make a game that is extremely challenging. Or scary (there's a contest on that running right now). Or learn how to FPI script and make a puzzle game.

I am making a fantasy dungeon game at the moment and I actually try to make it as old school as possible. Classic action still works for me.

Whenever I lack motivation or inspiration for big games I try out some smaller ideas. So why not try some crazy stuff and just make one cool level with it? That could end up as a prototype for a bigger game.

Don't worry, we've all been in the same situation. I myself get bored with designing levels, and if that's the case, I stop for the day, then pick up some other time. Problem is people try designing games in one week, only to have them loose interest.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.
