I suspect its having the same problem as VS does on XP - for some reason (and this happens on more than 1 XP machine), every other save/write, it thinks the file is read-only.

Doesn't happen with VS .NET though... I suspect something isn't closing a file/flushing file buffers or something...

I second the auto-backup idea. There're times when you just want the IDE to do it for you instead of having to remember to do it.

@TCA

I don't think that the files are always closed properly. I will have the SaveProject() function delete, blank and recreate the project file in future. Hopefully that should fix things.

@RKnight / Froggermon

Configurable auto-backup is an excellent idea. Maybe have it backup either every 5,10 or 20 minutes to a directory of your choosing. That and project management are the next things to add. Media backup could take time to copy files though. Have to think about that one.

Not for a while.

I think I rushed the first few versions so they were a bit buggy. BIDE now seems to be pretty stable and loads all the projects I could find without problems.

The main changes since Beta 1 (the current version) thus far are:
- Bookmark support, comments like this `- are shown as bookmarks
- Colour coded project organisation (Version history, To-Do, Notes)
- Tidied up the look of the IDE, now more professional.
- Fixed load / save etc. issues

Not had a huge amount of time to work on it.

You could actually try selling it - probably a good few people would like it...

There are other IDEs available though. Besides, I like the open source principle

Massive respect to RobK. I've been mucking about with BlueIDE and it is fantastic!!! I'm really looking forward to the official 1.0 release.

In the meantime, here is a ragbag of thoughts/comments:

Bug? If I try to open more than 2 *.dba files the editor crashes with "Run Time Error 6"

Request: please please can we have the option of global variables being presented in their own colour, not black? Ditto CONSTANTS? I love that kind of thing. I find it really helpful.

Typo: On the "help" tab on the far right bar "view in sepErate window" should be "view in sepArate window"

Ta!

A very impressed Philip

@Philip

Glad you like it

Regarding the bug, the CloseProject() function was being called, if there is no .dbpro file open, it gets stuck in a loop and overflows a variable. Now fixed that.

a little issue concerning your code list of function:
i have a ""Fire X" + str$()" function for your editor because of this line:

exitfunction "Fire X" + str$(TssConfig(Num,2))

Obvisouly, that isn't a function. I think this issue apperead because of the ) of str$ at the end of the line.

Otherwhise, it remains a very great job. Congratulation! (when macro functions will be activated (i saw them in the key assignement)?
