I get a 'Runtime error 13' - type mismatch error when it starts, and everything is pushed to the left - the screen-shot is in the following zip file (to avoid annoying anyone ) http://www.matrix1.demon.co.uk/ShortTermUploads/Image1.zip

None of the menus work, and the tabs are mislabelled

For the runtime error 13 - Type mismatch.
Do what granada says and go in to the blue ide\plugins folder and delete the dll. That fixed it for me.

Need help with the installation process, I have read all the thread but I am missing something.

I Downloaded the File http://blueide.sf.net/blueide_alpha3.zip
extracted to
[href]C:\Program Files\Dark Basic Software\Dark Basic Professional[/href]
When I try to open "Blue.exe" I get message :

"Component 'cmcs21.ocx' or one of its dependancies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

I read the comment
Quote: "You need to install CodeSense first, do this by copying the cmcs21.ocx file from the zip file into your C:\Windows\System32 (XP) "

where is the file "cmcs21.ocx" it was not part of the zip?

Thank you for making a new IDE....it is badly needed. I don't know if you are soliciting suggestions but if you are:

1. Give me the ability to click or highlight a function and by pressing a key jump to where the function is defined.

2. Allow for the functions to be listed alphabetically as well as order of creation.

3. Allow for the creation of folders to put functions in. This will allow for orgainizing them into groups.

4. Also, are you doing anything to fix/enhance the de-bugger?

Thanks in advance

Hmm... seems like the blue.exe file was out of date. If you recompile it from the source it will work properly.

Sorted matters folks

- Installer automatically installs OCX files
- BLUE IDE now adds the version=DBP1.00 line to files so they can be opened with the normal IDE
- Fixed compile dialog problems when running in debug mode
- Fixed Type Mismatch errors from Alpha 3

Download the Fixed Alpha 3 here (5.27MB) :

Oops! - Thanks for pointing that out

Edit: Bug with the Code Snippets library. Create a new folder called Library in your BIDE installation folder and it should work correctly

Edit 2: Updated Alpha again: Fixed Code Snippets, added error handling for plugins, global arrays now listed with correct name in code list

Another thing I noticed was, that it doesn't save the version information. Which is kinda annoying but nothing major. Btw, that was with the original Alpha 3. I'm downloading this new Alpha 3 now.

Why is it that when I double click my .dbpro file, it doesn't open it...just a blank project.

Is there a way to fix this, or does it just not support loading directly form windows explorer?

Oh, and sometimes when I try to compile my program...It says whatever the program exe is called+"is not a valid windows image"
It gives this message 3 times...not a big deal, but can be annoying.

Where can I get this OCX?
Oh and how did you make that installer?
Please tell me.

Most people will have this file already installed, if you don't, download the file and follow the instructions at the bottom of this webpage:

Not sure if you remember or not but I haven't been able to open any of your alphas at all yet. I get no error or any thing just the windows error 'dong' sound and thats it. I find it worrying that no one else has this problem but you said that, as I don't have VB (well I have VB.net but it won't bloody convert VB6 files coz it's only the cheap standard version), you would compile a version that I could use? Any chance of this?

I get TABCTL32.OCX or one of its dependancies is not correctly registered - had to get this file from elsewhere.

Opening one of my projects, got a run-time error 5 - Invalid procedure call.

Ok, i'm sure that you're sick of me complaining all the time, but I really want this to work i think it's the greatest editor ever so I want it to work, any way, it says cann't find "Keywords folder refer to your Dbpro installer. I found that folder myself, its in the editor subdir any way i tried installing the editor to Db main folder and the editor folder and even again in the keywords folder, and it still displays that message.
WHAT IS WRONG?

@RPG_Freak

What is the path to your DarkBASIC Professional install folder & What OS are you running? - the problem must be that it doesn't match the registry setting.

@TCA

Can you play around with the source / project and see if you can find out what causes the problem? I cannot replicate it here.

Trying to save an empty project, and I get a run-time error 91 (object variable or with block not set).
The run-time 5 also appears when trying to add an existing .dba file.

Strange. I don't seem to get this error.

I did the following steps:

1. Installed BlueIDE from latest web installer
2. Opened BlueIDE
3. Clicked Save icon
4. Saved project as Untitled.dbpro
5. Saved main file as Untitled.dba

Without error.

Is this what you did?

I suspect the TABCTL32.OCX was the wrong version - its all okay now.
However, it does complain about an unprintable character in the front of a fair few lines.

Question where do you install? Editor or DB main folder. And I fixed my previouse prob, but it says to me: "System Error &H8007007E(-2147024770). The specified module could not me found."
I've installed it directly (using the Installer) to the DB main folder and double clicked on blue.exe.
Oh and is there a way to get the Blue IDE to open as the default editor instead of the current DBPro editor?
Thanx for everything.

You can install it anywhere.
As long as DarkBASIC Professional has not been moved around since installation, it will find everything it needs.

If you want to make it open as the default editor, install it in the Editor folder and rename blue.exe to editor.exe (you should backup the old editor.exe first)

I think I found another bug, when I open a project, remove a file from this project and then save. In some cases it overwrites one of the remaining files with another one

I also still have the problem that I can't launch from another tab/file then the main file. And the undo buttom makes the program crash, automation error.

Let's hope it's not again a local problem.

@TheCodingArea

Can you send me some projects which cause problems please?

@thedubdude

Sensible decision. I am basically trying to stabilize BlueIDE at the moment, to remove bugs and ensure compatibility on all setups and with all project files.

If anyone has any old projects that use lots of "features" (includes, media etc.) then if they are willing to send me the source & project files that would be very useful.

It means that the executable file is read only for some reason, so DarkBASIC cannot add the DLLs in the PCK file to it.

Basically the compiler writes out the executable containing the initialisation calls and your compiled code. It then writes out a seperate PCK file containing all the core / 3D / maths etc. DLLs. This PCK file is then added into the executable file if you specify normal exe.

What is happening here is that either the exe file is read only for a werid reason, or the exe file is open when the compiler tries to add the PCK stuff.

I had an idea for a great IDE feature before I went to bed last night. An automatic back up system would be really cool. Something like the 3dsmax auto back up system that saves a backup file of what you have done ever 10 minutes. Then everytime you close DB it puts the last backup it made in an archive. Upon installing the IDE you could allocate as much HD space as you wanted to auto-backup. You could even do something where it backed up any media in your project directory.
