This is what I often use:

Move backwards and forwards with the arrow keys and turn the camera with the mouse.

Do you want the camera's Y coordinate to remain fixed as if someone was walking along a corridor but looking at the ceiling (a hazardous practice in my experience )?

It would be simpler if he actually told us what he wants to do.

here are two functions read them and understand then fix what you want to fix:

function pointcamerausingmouse(camno)
xcurrentangle#=camera angle x(camno)
ycurrentangle#=camera angle y(camno)

xnewangle#=xcurrentangle#+mousemovey()*.1
ynewangle#=ycurrentangle#+mousemovex()*.1
ynewangle#=wrapvalue(ynewangle#)

if xnewangle#<-90 then xnewangle#=90
if xnewangle#>90 then xnewangle#=-90

xrotate camera camno,xnewangle#
yrotate camera camno,ynewangle#
ENDFUNCTION

//-----------------------------------------------

function movecamera(camno,distance#)
xcurrentangle#=camera angle x(camno)
ycurrentangle#=camera angle y(camno)
if keystate(17) or keystate(31)
move camera camno,(keystate(17)-keystate(31))*distance#
xrotate camera camno,xcurrentangle#
yrotate camera camno,ycurrentangle#
endif
if keystate(32) or keystate(30)
yrotate camera camno,ycurrentangle#+90*(keystate(32)-keystate(30))
move camera camno,distance#
xrotate camera camno,xcurrentangle#
yrotate camera camno,ycurrentangle#
sync
endif
ENDFUNCTION
