I'm in the middle of coding an overlay creation program. I should have it finished next week. At the moment it's called OverLaze.

Sounds great xplosys. one request for OverLaze (already!?) please allow the overlay to be any size, not just constraint to 1 segment.

That should be possible already with the "scale" feature of the overlay FPI. You just need to make sure that your texture is good enough. I'll add that to the list of things to test when the major coding is done.

Here's a working screenshot...

This probably would have been done already but I'm using VB10 instead of VB6. I'm thankful for the new features, but why did they have to change the code for the old stuff that still works just the same? I'm too old and slow for new tricks.

On a side note, I have an idea for a billboard creation program as well.

so will it be as easy as choosing an image and them importing it into your program, then choose size, and then just export it or is there more?

First you'll choose the overlay image. The settings are initially set to default so unless you want to make some specific changes, you'll just have to click the Create button. The program will create and move the files to the proper FPS Creator location so that the overlay is then available to select in the editor library.

Only the basic settings are available on the form but you can view and edit the FPI file to your liking before you create the overlay.

I'm currently having an issue getting VB to resize the image for the icon, but I'll either find the right code or end up using a generic icon. The wall overlay code is a little sticky, but it will allow you to make other things like posters, graffiti, fake vents and windows, etc... so I'll keep working at that.

Is it possible to add shaders to overlays? Just curious.

If you mean in general, overlays are just flat plane entities,I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.
