Do you mean the door frames?

C++ is labourless... if your name starts with 'L' and ends with 'ee'.

So you want it to stop shining? And you find they continue to shine after the light is deactivated?
Are there any other lights around?

What you're describing is the bloom effect.

I've attached a modified version of this shader if you want to get rid of most of this affect.

Go into your Effectbank folder and backup the orginal post-bloom.fx file. (Right-click it and rename it it "Post-Bloom.fx.old"

Then drop the modified shader I attached into the folder.
