Having to update the portfolio as I am applying for a position at the end of this week and wanted to show some different work. There was one model there that drove me nuts and finally decided to do something about it.

need to play with the specular a little but I think its getting there now.







As I will no doubt be asked the specs

1024x1024 texture
2124 polys

Well my cat was by my feet keeping me company if thats what you mean, it didnt really help me a lot to be honest but did keep my toes warm.




sorry, couldnt resist it.

There is nothing there that you couldnt do yourself with a few grunge / scratch brushes and various layers with a touch of opacity between them. If your art package cant handle this find one that does now !

I`ll knock up a quicky tutorial later to show you how it was done.

Thanks! i've been meaning to learn to make a decent texture for awhile now!. I use GIMP, that good enough?

If you can import photoshop brushes and use layers then yes ( thats all I did on this model), if not get hold of Photoshop or photoshop essentials ( cheaper/lighter version ) by any means possible, either flush your younger sisters head down the toilet until she gives you all her pocket money or rob a bank, failing that get a job.

If you can make your own brushes in Gimp then cool, I dont have it so you will have to work that bit out for yourself.

I'm not sure about photoshop brushes but it can use layers. you can make your own brushes though (i think)

Some one has done one almost extacly to the same process as me here.

All I have done is gone on from there adding extra layers for bird poo and grafitti

You can create brushes in gimp. I think you can find info on the process on the web fairly easily

Just so people know: GIMP supports Photoshop brushes as well as the ability to import ps files.

Nice looking model you got, good work!
