Hello everyone, I have a question along the area of creating 3d media. I've been using 3ds max for awhile now, and have gotten familiar enough with it to start creating some models for my game(s), and I came across the issue of texturing.

The question is: When do I unwrap and create the texture manually, and when do I just paste it on according to material id's etc.

For larger objects unwrapping sounds like it would involve extremely large textures, while just tiling them on loses a lot of detail.

So what's best? is there some technique that I'm not aware of?

Thanks in advance

I would post this question in 3D chat:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_read&i=3

And look at the UVUnwrap command... (I think, but it's been a while!)
