Next, you might as well use the most current release of the code. You can get that here.

You will also need the DBPRO. You can create your own, however, it would be easier to get it here.
"

Anyone else with more tips on compiling the source on your own?
I haven't really seen an threads specificly for this.

I believe there are a number of threads covering compiling the FPSC game engine in DBpro.

Probably one of the better threads is: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=182478&b=21

Good luck.

Hi,

To compile the latest source you will need.

Dark Basic Pro
Dark AI (Latest)
The DBP extras folder
DBP update 7.7
I use dark lights but can't remember if it's still required.

Back up setup.ini in the compiler folder and replace it with the setup.ini from the extras folder.

Open the project in DBP.
Set the .exe name to FPSC-Game.exe
Set the display mode settings to full screen mode to 1024,768,32
THEN
Set display mode to hidden.

Compile and it should run.
Some people find that compiled versions of the V118 source crash the editor, as to why is a mystery to many people wiser than I am, if anyone can shed light onto this then please let me know, I'm sure it'll be a help to anyone who wants to compile.

If anyone needs any help I'm happy to try to answer any questions on this thread. Sorry if it seems I'm hijacking.

You also need the new DBProBasic3DDebug.dll from googlecode to compile the lastest source.

Not at all, that is why I created this thread.

You are right, but from searching I haven't found anything really concise. I have seen quick Q&A's among threads though.

I know it is hectic right now with the beta, so it is understandable for some to have problems compiling the latest from the source.

Would be nice if there were an Official Sticky thread for this.

I may create a guide to creating an FPSC source code mod at some point in the future. It depends if there is enough demand.

C++ is labourless... if your name starts with 'L' and ends with 'ee'.

Well this thread has 165 views with only 9 posts now.
So I say the interest is here.

The info in the text file when you download the source is a little vague and confusing to some, and I can certainly understand the need for a guide. I had started one with screen shots just to show how to setup your DBP to compile the FPSC source back in the v116 days. Is that what you are after? We can of course change some content to fit for the current version- the general concepts/principles are all the same.

If that would be of some usage to you, send me and e-mail and I can pass to you what I have (I'll need to find it in my archive of notes). You are more than welcome to it, and perhaps you will find something I missed or needs to address/change to be of any benefit or usage.

BlackFox,

Yes, anything more detailed than what comes with the DBPRO download would be of help.
