I don't get why this is happening. Without a zone in my world I get 250fps avg. If I make one large zone using Ian's MatrixUtil I get 380fps!

Thoughts?

Because IanM is just that awesome and DBP becomes smarter faster and stronger from the mere presence of his code.

Well, that and IanM's dll's use custom code that tends to streamline a lot of stuff DBP normally handles. I don't know the specifics, but I do know that anything in his DLL's labeled 'Nice' or 'Fast' are major performance boosters. He probably used the same techniques for the zones code.

True, true

But TBH, I have no idea why that's doing that. Was anything else running on the system at the same time? Music player, email update, AV scans etc?

No other apps are running.

I was not able to produce the same result on a different computer. Going back to the original computer, I do notice that as soon as I walk into a zone, either its my video card or cpu fan speeds up. As soon as I walk out of the zone, the fan speed goes back to normal. My assumption is that somehow walking into a zone kicks my cpu/video card to a higher setting. Not sure, but that is what may be happening.
