Hi Codstre

It usually takes a maximum of 24 hours to get your download unless you purchase it over a weekend.

Spend that 24 hours downloading all of the free content you can find here on the forums, so once you do get your download link for FPSC, you'll have a lot extra goodies to play with

codstre,

Welcome, i just got it a few months ago as well. There's plenty off free stuff out there. Search the forums for some of Cosmic Prophet's stuff.

Advice from a newbie to a newbie. don't get seriouse about building a game right away. Get used to the software, build "experiements" at first. Use these levels to get to know how to make things do what you want them to do i.e. make a light flicker, make an enemy spawn behind you. Get to know the enemies and how you can place them for best effect. For example in one of my levels the player turns a corner and can see down a short hall into a larger room with a few enemies, as he approaches the room the enemies in the room engage him, but as they engage him an enemy spawns behind the player grabs him and holds him while chewing on the players neck. test your level's often. Personally I start on layer 2 or three so that way I can go up and down and not have too much on one layer. I will build maybe a hall with plenty of corners to a room or something like that place a player start point and test it. Then continue on with my build, everytime I build a little test build a little test. When you have all of your halls, rooms, lifts, stairs etc I move on to added content like barrels, or whatever to "decorate" the level. Again one section, test one seciton test and so on. I find that a little goes a long way in the adding objects in your level. lastly I add enemies and again one section at a time and test test test.

Check out the commmunity guide a alot of good info there. there is a great simple edit that you can do to the fastbone file that will make your enemies look a little better.

good luck and there is tons of info on these forums and everyone here has been great so far.

in the words of bruce willis: "welcome to the party pal!"

I agree with what the others have said. Download as much free stuff as you can and get experimenting! Download all the guides and get reading!

Prepare yourself to get equally addicted and frustrated

You can also download the free version and start making maps in that.

sorry to bust your bubble but that's a little ambitious in a engine like fpsc. Do you have programming experience??

To update click on the fpsc page on the main tgc site and then click update in the side bar

My software never has bugs, it just develops random features.
