Hello, for a long time I wonder if it's possible to 'decrease' the engine ?

In fact, I've always wanted to use 2D sprites instead of 3D models, like Doom and Duke Nukem 3D, it's possible?

Please apologize my bad english, I'm French.

There have been some FPSC games that made enemies out of simple and thin 3D boxes. This gives some impression of sprite based enemies.

...sure...the illusion anyway.

Just use single plane billboard-type enemies, in place of the current full 3D
models.

Search for Pencil Whipped, to see a full game created in this fashion, with very
good results.

I'm trying to do the same thing for my nostalgic remake entry, it makes sense that using a plane would work.

Pencil Whipped wasn't made using fpsc. Also you need to have the sprite face the Camera at all times, and change sprite for front, 3/4 view and rear shot.
I myself I have thought it would make a good tool/technique to be able to use sprites like in Classic Doom, especially for the weapons if you just want to mock something up real fast, 2d is the way to go. If you want to change 3d into sprites, spriteworks 2
