FYI, apreshiated = appreciated

I found that BMP files are not the best to work with. I favor PNG. Also, before converting it back to DDS make sure that what needs to be transparent is transparent. Irfanview makes that easy. Open up the new PNG file and re-save it using the "transparent" flag. It will ask what part of the image to be transparent and then point the arrow to that color and click the mouse button.

Irfan view is great, if you need a more advanced image editor, and a free one to boot; choose from
Paint.net
or gimpshop

A quick google will take you to the download links

If a dds converter is still required, irfan is still there to handle that part of the job.

i prefer gimp since its opensource, PS brushes are able to be used, as well as if someone gives you a photoshop base file for say a base gun texture, gimp can open it up.

just thought people would like to know.
