Pretty cool, huh?

Despite the interesting effect it gives, I don't want it. This isn't in the FPSC-Bugs section because I'm sure it is something I did. I had a regular level, with the usual skybox. I changed the skybox, then re-tested. That is when this happened. Any ideas?

Try running dumpmem and fpsc cleaner. Also how big is your skybox?

Yeah that is sorta what it looks like, I was unaware that fpsc had a fog setting.

It does look like fog, that is the first thing I though of. But I will point out that the "fog" is not effecting the sky, therefore is unlikely to be fog, unless that is a glitch.

But he only claims this happened since changing the sky box, he didn't say the effect 'affected' the skybox... in the image I can't see the skybox affected just the entities and with the parallel distance and gradient effect, this is easily re creatable using fog.

Check setuplevel.fpi not just in your project folder but in the 'mygame' folder in gamebank too as the test builds have a tendancy to swtich.

So the real question is: why did fog turn itself on after I changed the skybox

The fog is jealous because of the fact that you changed the look of the sky instead of its look, so it turned its self on to show you it has feelings too.

That is fog. The sky box is NOT affected by fog otherwise it would not be visible with fog enabled. You would have a plain white sky.
