Hello everyone, my name is nik, and I just purchased DBPro and the rest of the bonanza package and am on my way to teaching myself how to use these programs.. I had a question about tutorials, since looking for an RPG tutorial I found "how to create and rpg" thread from a while back, and it turned into somewhat of a "how not to create an RPG" thread. Well if there is any section or website or thread with tutorials on RPG games? I had no luck searching and only found this thread.

Any help or a link to a place that has an RPG tutorial would be appreciated
Thank you

I am currently just starting out with DB pro and not only did i find the hands on volume 1 and 2 books very helpful but some of the video tutorials and other tutorials on here also helped a lot in just getting over the basics. However i understand where you are coming from as through as much as i learned i still dont feel ready to actually make anything just yet, and i too am trying to make a little RPG but even with the knowledge of all these commands putting it all together can be really tough (well it is for me anyway). So far i am not very good at creating solutions for problems or even identifiying what i need to do to get started. This is why i am currently puttnig together an RPG with the help of basically everyone who checks out the Newcomers part of the forum. If you check out any posts made by me you will probably find stuff that will help you at least make a start. I do whine a lot in my threads as i get quite frustrated but if you understand things quicker than i do (and read my questions but skip through the b*tching and moaning that i do) then everything you need to get started will be in those threads. Its only because like yourself i found myself looking at all the threads but not really getting anywhere as the person who started it either got the concept before i did or the thread got abandond before i could get anything useful from it.

When i am finished and can actually make a half decent simple RPG of my own i may go through some of my old threads and trim the fat from them and make a sort of 'Make a top down scrolling RPG' helper tutorial. From a complete beginner to complete beginners.

If you are new to programming in general as i was i suggest getting the above books and looking at DC Foremans excellent beginner tutorials to cover some basics before reading any threads i have made.

I wish you all the very best.

I wouldn't start by making a rpg... I would start with somthing like a racing game.

My software never has bugs, it just develops random features.

If you're still posting in the Newcomers forums, this may be a bit advanced for you. I recommend that you start out with something much, much smaller than this so that you can get used to following advanced code techniques.
However, Omen recently made a giant tutorial on how to make the foundations of an MMORPG with Darkbasic Pro.
The thread is here:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=165271&b=1
You will find links to his website(with the full tutorial) and Google code links with open svn access to the code.

If you use this as a study tool to understand exactly how and why he set everything up how he did, you'll have learned a great deal. Omen is an excellent programmer.
