ripped down to every polygon. These can't be used unless you want
Microsoft serving you a cease and desist letter or possibly actions
following such threats."
Thanks for the reply, However I have permission to use the models from Halo. I have asked 2 bungie employees (Evil Otto and RocketMoose) This is there message they replied back to me.
Evil Otto:
"You'll have to ask someone at Microsoft. They own the rights to Halo now.
From what I know, and this isn't official, fair rights allows you to use Halo assets to make fan creations as long as you aren't selling or gaining monetarily from their use."
RocketMoose:
"Hello ZeoWorks,
Microsoft owns the Halo IP, so I have no ability to give you permission in your project (not to mention I'm just a programmer, and not a buisness guy).
As a starting place, I'd look at Microsoft's Game Content Usage Rules (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Community/Developer/Rules ). They are primarily for machinima, and I'm not sure if they apply to fan-made games, but they at least give you a place to start looking.
Making your own games can be a ton of fun, and great portfolio material as well. My general advice is to keep it small, so you can have a complete and polished game. A small finished game is almost always more impressive than a big unfinished one. Finally, while fan-games can be really cool, they often come with lots of strange legal entanglements. If you can come up with an original game, it can be a lot simpler, and also super-satisfying when you are done - even if the premise is silly.
Good Luck!"
So I looked at that website and I have permission to use the models under Microsoft’s “Game Content Usage Rules.
Thank you for your interest!
