Someone with more knowledge might have a better opinion, but if you have 2 gigs of ram and windows is running one around 1 gig of it that only leaves you 1 gig to build with. You might have to reduce light mapping, effects etc. Or failing all else upgrade the ram.

There was a program called "end it all" for xp that would shut down all non-essential windows functions and free up some memory.

Post some screen shots of your maps in the editor so we can get an idea of the amount of entities you have going.

Can you post your .fpm please.

This is a generic message which may have nothing to do with the size of your level. When I start FPSC using 1.17 I get the same message and the program closes. I have not even begun to build a level. I had to revert to 1.16 and I have no problems with it.

Your level works fine in V1.16. There are no lifts in the shafts, but the rest works fine. I know that doesn't explain what's up with V1.17, but that's all I got right now.

Thanks for allowing us to have your map. BTW, I really like your level. OK, loaded it up in v118b12. Test compiled fine.

Question, once you started the game when did it actually crash? (Related: How far into the game were you when it crashed? The room where you picked up the weapons or later?) What exactly did you do prior to the crash?

You can get previous version updates here:

Will be curious to know if v116 crashes on you as well. I've run v116 and v117 on specs similar to what you listed just fine. There were a few problems encountered, but nothing we could not adjust to.

A pointer to keep in mind- when you start building something, stay in that version. In other words, don't start building in v116 and then switch mid-stream into v117 or v118 Beta. You will have nothing but problems and issues that no one will be able to pinpoint, let alone solve. There are many variables to contend with when trying to find out why an FPM works on one system, but not another.

Build your level, save it, test it. If everything works, add to it, save with a different name (I put a date/timestamp in my level name saves), test, etc. This way if you encounter problems as you develop, you know you can go back to a file that did work.

I found a strange problem, if I have more than 5 lifts in
my game at one time the game crashes when i try to use the 6th
lift tube. I removed the 6th lift and rest of the game so far
plays ok. any ideas why this is happening anyone? using the v1.6
