Most of our code examples use GET IMAGE because it's easier to run code that doesn't require any media for examples. Without GET IMAGE we'd be attaching media 100% of the time just to help people with 2D problems.
Just as BatVink mentioned it's mainly to give us the ability to manipulate images and grab the results to use in our programs.
This shows what Green Gandalf mentioned and to show you two ways to use GET IMAGE (to blur or not to blur).
` Make a box outline
line 0,0,50,0
line 0,0,0,50
line 50,0,50,50
line 0,50,51,50
line 25,0,25,50
line 0,25,50,25
` Grab the box blurred (texture flag 0)
get image 1,0,0,51,51
` Grab the box pixel perfect (texture flag 1)
get image 2,0,0,51,51,1
` Show blurred image (image 1)
paste image 1,100,100,1
` Show pixel perfect image (image 2)
paste image 2,100,200,1
` Identify each image
text 55,18,"<-( Original Image )"
text 155,118,"<-( Blurred Image - Texture Flag 0 )"
text 155,218,"<-( Pixel Perfect Image - Texture Flag 1 )"
