Hi everyone,

I have recently bee working on a custom weapon for a game I am in the process of making, but now, as I come to having to make a set of hands, I'm finding a difficulty: On ErantAI's weapons, for example, the hand skin is separate from the gun skin, which I'm guessing means that they are two separate models... However, that brings to mind the problem of animating them, as I am unable to figure out how to open two separate models at once in Blender. Is there another program being used? Or is this a completely different process than I am guessing?

Thanks in advance,

You are close. The hands and weapon are technically the same model, but they are separate groups and use two separate UV maps so a higher level of detail can be achieved. You have two options: model the weapon and hands at once, or separately then merge (File>Merge) the two when you are ready to animate. Save the merged and animated file as something different though, so you still have the original gun. Good luck!
