Hi everyone, after many months of pouring through the sourcecode, I am proud to present to you my very first mod for FPSC: Vanilla Mod

The release of any new mod is exciting for all members of the forum: What new features will it add? How will this impact on my future game development? What will the level of support be like? Will it cost money and what sort of updates can I expect in the future? Well all these questions and more will be answered in the FAQ below.

FAQ:
What new features will it add?
See below for the full changelog:

How will this impact on my future game development?
Well really the sky is the limit. This mod has all the features of v1.18 beta with the added bonus of the features listed above. I'm really looking forward to seeing what can be achieved utilising these incredible new features

What will the level of support be like?
I have put 110% into the creation of this mod and do not want to see its potential go to waste. You have my word that should any problem arise with the features which have been added, I will work night and day until they are fixed.

Will it cost money and what sort of updates can I expect in the future?
At this stage it will be free. But should the response to the mod be good enough and I feel the need of a little extra money to buy something nice, like a curry for dinner or a new pair of shoes then I shall consider charging for the mod. The price will be considered on a case by case basis: essentially it will boil down to the more you earn the more you will pay. This is fair for all users with the richest of you subsidising the poorer of the forum.

What version of FPSC is this compatible with?
It is known to be compatible with V1.18, but may work with earlier version. However, they are untested and unsupported at this time.

Can we donate some money to you for all the hard work you have done so far?
Not as this stage, but as I said above, should i feel like buying something and I don't have the cash at the time, I might put up a donate button.

Where can I get this incredible mod and test out all these new features?
Good question. You will find the mod attached to this very post. All you need to do is click the download button and using the power of the internet the file will magically make its way to your very own computer.

How do I install the mod?
You simply copy the fpsc-game.exe into your fpsc folder. Making sure you have first backed up your original file by naming it something easily identifiable such as "fpsc-gameorginalfilewhichirenamedwheninstallingvanillamodsoididntloseit.exe"
I take no responsibility for your inability to install the mod correctly and breaking your installation of fpsc.

Does the file contain any viruses/Virii (I never know which is the correct way to write that)?
None. The file will not harm your computer in anyway. But you should always virus check anything you download before using it anyway.

I have a question, not answered here. Where can I ask it?
In this very thread
----------------------

A very special thanks to Hockeykid for helping me with a few problems I had compiling the source code.
---------------------

A website for the mod will be set up very soon, and will showcase various games created using the mod and will have a vibrant active community upon launch. More details about the website will be provided later.

Enjoy everyone

Okay while I'm not entirely following what your mod does (vanilla mod watermark in test games?), good luck.

I also like hearing this:
...essentially it will boil down to the more you earn the more you will pay...

I'd be interested to see how that works if you start charging for it.

Well this certainly came sooner then I expected it! Good job Thraxas for all that hard and grueling work you put into it.

Yes it does have the watermark in test games, and in built games an extra special feature that I'll let people discover on their own when they test the mod out. As well as those 2 incredible features it also has everything currently available in version 1.18 at no extra cost.

Thanks Astek. You deserve some of the credit for giving me the idea to create this mod in the first place. It certainly was hard work going through each line of code to ensure that my additions didn't impact on the performance on the mod in its current state.

I'm sure I don't know what you mean. This is a fully functioning mod of FPSC.

Quote: "I will get into discussion with Thraxas on a merger with my Vanilla."

While I appreciate the offer of integration, I prefer to work alone. I hope you are not offended. I feel that it would be difficult for our work to be integrated successfully, as it is I had to spend a fair amount of time ironing out the bugs in my code, let alone adding more to the mix.

Thraxas,

I think a name change would be advisable. I think there'd be confusion from Vanilla FPSC and Vanilla Mod.

It doesn't work for me. I get the standard error "FPSC Creator needs to close, level too big, bla bla bla". To bad. I really wanted to have the "Vanilla Mod" mark on the screen and get the special feature.

Being as a "vanilla" version of something generally means it's clean and has nothing modded, I'd say this is a decent joke.

I'm a bit confused myself, but I'm a little more than convinced this is a joke.

I really don't know.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

Yes this is a joke. Which I had thought was fairly obvious, from what I wrote in the opening post Not an April fools joke just a joke based on a comment made in a thread yesterday.

@mickeyb Take a chill pill buddy.

It is a shame because the special feature is all kinds of awesome

Maybe I'm not using this mod correctly. I actually lost 10% of my looks. Does this feature depend of how high end your looks are to start with?

I heard that the special feature enables true 3D graphics!

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

Obviously you'd need a 3D monitor to see the results though.

@ those who didn't know this was a joke -- Really? Just really? I would like to go into your minds to understand how one could honestly not immediately realize there is nothing serious about this whatsoever. its borderline disturbing how people can over-think something so obvious and basic. Ohhh you people.

I guess the FPSC community is too immature to be able to have some fun on the forums.
